In-Home Couples Session in Lafayette | Riley & Grant

FILED IN: Anniversary

For their couples session, Riley & Grant chose to document their love in the place they’re most comfortable, their home. This isn’t the first time I’ve photographed an in-home session, & I can guarantee it won’t be the last as these are some of my favorites. I’ll go more in depth on why I absolutely love these sessions, but for now it’s time to put the spotlight on Riley & Grant.

Their In-Home Couples Session

For their in-home couples session, Riley & Grant wanted to include an activity that they love to do with each other to really bring their photos to life. They landed on cooking pizza & Toll House cookies since they love to cook together, & they recently had their entire kitchen space redone. As you’ll see from the final product, these two know their stuff when it comes to cooking. More than that though, they work together as a team, & you can really feel their love for each other as they work together in their space. There wasn’t a moment throughout the session where things didn’t feel all warm & fuzzy. Once the pizza was finished on the grill, & the cookies were baked, we made our way outside for the two to share a bite & of course get some photos on their patio.

Making Your Session Your Own

I mentioned earlier how Riley & Grant made sure to include their love of cooking into their in-home couples session. This is something I am always encouraging my couples to do as it makes your album so much more personal to you. Whether it’s cooking, walking your dog around the block, or having smores in your backyard, I love when my couples are willing to include something special to them into their session. These moments may seem small at a glance, but they are an important part of what makes your relationship special to you.

Why an In-Home Session?

The other aspect of Riley & Grant’s session that I adore is that they chose to have it in their own home. In-home sessions are favorites of mine for a number of reasons. For starters, there’s no place that makes you feel more comfortable & at ease than your home. This helps alleviate any pre-photo jitters you may have, & helps you to relax in front of the camera more quickly. The other thing I love about these sessions is that they document your space. Your home is an extension of you. Your personalities & your relationship combine to make the space completely unique to you, & just like your relationship, your home is always growing & changing.

Having your couples session in your own home not only lets you document this stage of life & love you two find yourselves in, but also what your home looks like in this time. Like I mentioned with Riley & Grant, their kitchen was recently finished, so this session documents their love & also this huge change in their home that they’re so proud of.

Riley & Grant’s in-home couples session has so much about it that I just love. Each moment felt perfect & personal to them, which is what in-home sessions are all about.
