After several years of long-distance & living in multiple countries, Kim & Luis made it official & were married in their now home state of California. Their two-day wedding started with a celebration surrounded by their closest friends & family followed by an adventure session the next day. We spent the first evening dancing, sharing toasts, & celebrating the newly weds in all the best ways.
These two knew going into their wedding day that they wanted not only an experience celebrating with their friends & family, but also an intimate day just the two of them. That is why we put together their adventure session following their wedding day to get some amazing photos of the two of them & explore California decked out in their wedding gear.
What is an Adventure Session?
An adventure session with Shelby Jane Photography is a day following your wedding day, where you & your partner spend your time exploring the area you got married in while I tag along. Most couples will do this in their wedding attire, or they will have a different outfit planned for their adventure session. Adventure sessions last around four hours typically & we will work together to plan the session specific to the experience you two want to have with one another.
After we have a rough idea for how the two of you would like to spend your day, I will put together a timeline of your session & plan all of the logistics in terms of location scouting, permits & day of activities you would like to have included.
Kim & Luis’s Adventure Session
I will never get over how breathtaking the beauty of California is. No matter how many times I visit I am constantly in awe of everything I see. Kim & Luis took advantage of their adventure session the day after their wedding to get a few more portraits around the San Diego area. They LOVE California, so it was an amazing experience to get some photos of them throughout some of their favorite spots that one normally wouldn’t be able to fit into a traditional wedding day.
We set up Kim & Luis’s day with a rough outline. We knew there were a handful of locations that were a MUST, including In & Out, but it was amazing just driving around the state with a small outline of the day, but the freedom to do whatever we wanted.
Their Session Timeline
Their day started with starbies (of course) & then we headed back to the car they had rented which also happened to be Luis’s dream car to take some photos in it. Then we set off to two of the arguably most beautiful spots on the San Diego Coast, Walker Canyon & Sunset Cliffs to soak in some of the sunset on the rocks & beach.
These two were down for anything. We literally climbed down a cliff to get to the beach, talk about an adventure session, & then ended our day with some In & Out & photos with the San Diego Skyline. The best thing about Adventure sessions is they can literally be anything you want. Fill your day with your favorite restaurant, activities, literally whatever you can dream up we will find a way to do it. Kim & Luis’s adventure session was one for the books. I LOVE these two & I can’t wait to plan experiences just like theirs with my future couples. Speaking of which if you’re feeling like scheduling an adventure session of your own head over to my contact page so we can get to planning!
