6 European-Inspired Locations in Indianapolis
Newfields
With their expansive gardens and European Inspired Lilly House, Newfields is the perfect backdrop if you’re wanting the European garden feel with fountains, flowers, and beautiful outdoor architecture (don’t miss out on their bridge walking over to Lilly House!).
Heads up! They do require a permit when scheduling an engagement session and you can find the permit process here.
Hotel Carmichael
Whether inside or out, Hotel Carmichael is adorned with luxurious decor, classical vibes and European-inspired architecture.
Outside you’ll be welcomed by the grand scale of the boutique hotel as well as being right next door to the Carmel Arts and Design District. The outside of the Palladium is STUNNINGGGG.
Inside you’ll find their grand staircase, massive (and gorgeous chandelier) and bar area. Stay the night for a fun staycation and flash photos while getting ready and popping champagne!
Indiana Statehouse
Probably the most well known place for European-inspired architecture in Indy is the Indiana Statehouse.
A personal favorite, the Statehouse offers an expansive space for photos on several levels. You won’t run out of spots for photo opportunities (the atrium, stained glass dome, and stairs are just a few of my favorites).

Laurel Hall
Tucked away in a private neighborhood you’ll find Laurel Hall. A gorgeous wedding venue that offers a timeless backdrop for weddings and engagements! It combines classic and modern looks for that European-inspired castle feel!
They do require a photography permit so plan ahead!
Lockerbie Square
If you’re looking for cobblestone streets, Victorian houses, and a quiet neighborhood, Lockerbie Square is the perfect place for your engagement session!
It’s the perfect location for those cozy, quaint, and quiet pictures that reflect the streets of Europe!

Indianapolis Canal Walk
Last but not least is the Indianapolis Canal Walk. Set right downtown Indianapolis, the canal runs from White River State Park to 11th Street. You can walk, ride bikes, and take a gondola to see the city. You’ll pass museums, townhomes and apartments that give that European-inspired charm you’re looking for!
