5 Ways to Make Your Wedding Feel Like You

FILED IN: Advice, Wedding

Your wedding day is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience & such a cool experience at that. Everyone wants their wedding day to be unique & true to them, but how do you do that? How do you make your wedding day feel like you? To answer this question & to help you with your wedding planning I put together this list of my top 5 tips to help make your wedding day feel like you!

Plan in Some of Your Favorite Activities

One of the best ways to make your wedding day feel more like you is to include some of you & your honey’s favorite activities into your day. Things like kayaking, hiking, really anything the two of you love to do together! Adding in these kinds of personal touches to your wedding not only makes it feel more like you but it adds to your overall fun as well. Wedding days are already a blast, but a wedding day where you & your honey also get to do your FAV thing together? That’s a great way to make sure you have a wedding day that the two of you will always look back on & remember with a huge smile on your faces.

Set Aside Time for the People You’re Closest To

Spending time with your loved ones is one of the best parts about celebrating your marriage, & depending on your wedding size this can look a few different ways. For larger or intimate weddings, it can be hard to talk to those you are closest to without consciously setting aside time to spend with them. Plan in moments like a first look with your dad, or have your siblings help you with the finishing touches of getting ready to get a little alone time with them.

Lastly, for elopements, you may have a few guests present or it may just be the two of you. If you do have your guests present it’s very easy to set aside time with them as they’re the only ones there for the elopement! If it is just the two of you setting aside time to meet up & celebrate with your favorite people after you elope is a must. No matter which size wedding is right for you, setting aside time to be with the people that matter most to you is essential & a great way to make your wedding feel more like you.

Incorporate Your Favorite Foods & Drinks

I LOVE when my couples find ways to include their favorite food & drinks on their wedding day. Things like charcuterie boards, food catered from your favorite restaurant, or even having your reception at your favorite restaurant are great ways to include your favorite food. As for drinks making specialty cocktails, your favorite beer on tap, or beers from a local favorite brewery are all great ways to include your favorite beverages in your wedding day. As I mentioned earlier, the best way to make your wedding day feel more like you is to include the things that you & your honey love the most.

Stop By Your Favorite Places

This is such a fun idea that I love to be a part of with my couples. Between the ceremony & your reception, we can sneak away to stop at one of your favorite spots together & celebrate with some photos of just the two of you! Depending on your timeline & wedding location we may be limited where we can go, but if it’s possible it’s so much fun to stop somewhere like In-N-Out for a quick bite or your favorite bar for a drink. Even the place you met, or a garden you two spend time with are great options! It’s a great way to break up the day & add some personal flair to your wedding making it really feel like the whole day was tailor made for you. Spoiler alert: that’s how your wedding should feel!

Plan in Alone Time

Last but definitely not least plan in some alone time for just you & your honey throughout your wedding day. This can be a first look, a last dance to cap off the night, or sneaking away during the reception for some photos and alone time. No matter what you do you should schedule some alone time for the two of you on your wedding day. It helps you slow down & take in everything that’s happened so far. It also makes the day feel more intimate & special to the two of you even if you are having a larger wedding!

Making sure that your wedding day feels like you is something I believe every couple should strive for. Your wedding is such an important day for your relationship & is something you should be able to always look back on & cherish for the rest of your lives together!
