Kate and Kevin partied all weekend long with their fam and close friends at a lake house in New York and wow oh wow was it amazing. I love that Kate and Kevin had the best of both worlds, the intimacy of an elopement paired with the fun of having your friends and family there for an intimate wedding day in the Finger Lakes region.
This wedding day felt like Kate and Kevin in every aspect and I was so happy to be a part of their day.
Their Intimate Elopement Timeline
“She takes the time to get to know you better before the wedding with questionnaires to fill out with your significant other. She creates a detailed list of photos that you would like to get on the day of your wedding.”
Before every wedding day I take time to work with my couples to create a wedding day timeline that fits not only what they want to experience on their wedding day, but also fits everything they want documented. Before Kate and Kevin’s wedding day, they knew they wanted to have their close friends and family together and then have an adventure the day after where we went and took portraits of them at their favorite spots (the state park, Lucas Vineyards, kayaking). So together we put together a timeline that included everything they hoped for out of their intimate wedding.
Day 1
Getting Ready- Get ready separately with friends and family, taking the morning slow and spending some quality time with loved ones.
First look and Vows on the dock- Have an intimate moment together when seeing each other for the first time.
Ceremony- Say I do surrounded by all of our friends and family!
Dinner/Reception- Have a laid-back evening all together eating sweets, and loving our time together.
Day 2
Adventure Session- Hit up all Kate and Kevin’s favorite locations
The Finger Lakes New York
Kate and Kevin rented out a house for the weekend in the Finger Lakes to have a multi-day celebration amongst friends and family. The location was set up in a way that they could spend time with their loved ones, get ready and then have their ceremony and reception all in one place.
They chose The Finger Lakes in New York for their intimate elopement because it’s one of their favorite places to go with one another. These two LOVE the Finger Lake region and Taughannock Falls State Park and go there annually. A bonus to the place they stayed as well was that it was just down the street from their favorite vineyard. Their weekend was full of kayaking, hiking (that amazing waterfall you see there was only a short hike), wine tastings and wine slushies with the best weather a fall wedding could ask for (I mean we really lucked out on the sunny and cool weather).
Getting Ready
We started off their intimate wedding day getting ready at the lake house. Kevin and Kate got ready in different rooms of the house, Kate surrounded by her bridesmaids while Kevin took his time solo before meeting up with his groomsmen outside. Kate and her bridesmaids popped champagne and celebrated their wedding days! After getting ready, Kate and Kevin met out at the docks to see each other for the first time and exchange their vows.
By exchanging vows on the dock overlooking the Finger Lakes, they were able to have a sweet and intimate experience just the two of them before their ceremony. After exchanging vows we were able to get almost all of their formal photos in before their ceremony, allowing Kate and Keven to relax and spend uninterrupted time with their loved ones the rest of the evening.
The Ceremony
Surrounded by their closest friends and family, we got these two married! Kevin waited at the end of the aisle under the arbor his family helped put together. When Kate walked down the aisle she had her father’s ties tied around her flowers. This was such an intimate moment as her father had passed away a few years ago, but he was still able to walk her down the aisle of her wedding. After saying I do, the three of us ran off to take some couples portraits before the sun went down and enjoyed some time alone as newlyweds. I ALWAYS recommend reserving some couples’ portraits after the ceremony so you and your new spouse can have some alone time to soak everything in.
Kevin and Kate were best friends first now soulmates and you can truly tell through each and every one of their pictures and just being around them.
The Reception
After their laid-back ceremony and portraits, their friends and family all gathered underneath the tent for drinks, dinner, and then a first dance between Kate and Kevin. Everyone was just so happy to be there for the two of them, the energy was contagious. They ended their evening with a bonfire and their day couldn’t have been more perfect.
Adventure Session at Taughannock Falls State Park
The next day we took our time getting ready and headed out to one of their favorite locations in the Finger Lake region, Taughannock Falls State Park. Kate and Kevin wore their wedding gear from the day before, and were ready for a little adventure. We hiked to a GORGEOUS waterfall for couples portraits and to soak in their weekend on the Finger Lakes and everything that went into their intimate elopement.
Kate and Kevin’s wedding weekend was AMAZING! I am so happy for these two and I am so happy to have been a part of their day. If you’re looking for a photographer for your elopement check out my contact page and we can get to planning!
