Indiana Dunes Engagement Session | Kim & Rick

Kim & Rick are one of the most outgoing & adventurous couples I’ve worked with & their engagement session at the Indiana Dunes was SO much fun. These two love to camp, take part in winter sports, & they absolutely love Lake Michigan. This made a winter engagement session at the Indiana Dunes the perfect choice for their engagement session!

The Beauty of a Winter Engagement Session

Before we get into Kim & Rick’s session you may be wondering why you’d want to have your session in the winter with the cold temperatures & shorter days. While that may be true let me tell you there are SO many reasons to have your session in the winter. First off there are typically a lot less people at your outdoor locations, this meant we had the Indiana Dunes practically to ourselves for Kim & Rick’s engagement session! I also love winter fashion with how cute & cozy it is. Kim & Rick wore the cutest sweaters & winter wear for their engagement session which added so much to the winter vibe they were going for.

Engagement Session at the Indiana Dunes

Kim & Rick are an adventurous couple as I mentioned before, so we had an awesome time exploring the Indiana Dunes during their session. We started their session on the beach right along the water with them in their sweaters just having the best time together. These two have so much fun when they’re together & have such great chemistry, it made their session a blast from the get-go. After a quick outfit change we headed into the woods for a bit to get some photos with the late fall/early winter colors, & Kim’s sweater really popped here! We then made our way back to the beach for the last bit of their session. The two brought along a woven picnic blanket & some Oberons to sip on the beach to send off their session!

One Location for Your Session

I’m a HUGE fan of having one location for your session for a few reasons. For Kim & Rick’s engagement session we stayed at the Indiana Dunes for the whole time we were together which meant we really got to take our time with things. We didn’t have to spend time rushing from one location to another, but instead got to spend more time together laughing, trying new things, & enjoying each other’s company! It helps when a location like the Indiana Dunes has a good amount of variety to it to give your photos that feeling that you were in multiple places when in reality it’s all just a short walk away. This won’t work for every location, but if you can make it work to stay in one location for your session I highly recommend it!

Kim & Rick’s engagement session at the Indiana Dunes was a true showcase of everything there is to love about a winter session. Between having the place to ourselves, their super cute & cozy attire & the late fall colors around us it was an all-around perfect session!
